Career Research
“Prepare. The time to win your battle is before it starts.” – Fredrick W. Lewis
Successful marketing is based on solid research. There is no difference when it comes to a job search or career change. As we have discussed in the previous program sections, we first conduct research on you, to see what you have done and have to offer someone else. From there, we consider the various job parameters you may set for the ultimate opportunity.
At that point, we turn our efforts over to researching opportunity. In good times, and even bad times, there is plenty of opportunity in the job market. Research provides:
* Who the key decision makers are;
* What the current status is of the company;
* What growth plans the company has;
* What challenges the company is facing;
* What opportunities exist to assist the company in attaining its goals.
From this information, the client and his/her consultant can create a strategy to initiate an effective approach to the proper decision maker.
The role of research in an effective career campaign cannot be overstated. The more you know about an industry, a company, and the challenges it faces that you can address, the easier it is to create interest and ultimately present your qualifications and value to a prospective employer. The information gathered through research is instrumental in all phases of a campaign – targeting, approach letters, interviews and negotiations. While the volume of information available can be overwhelming, knowing what you are looking for, in the context of a well-thought-out plan, can make research a worthwhile investment of time and effort.
Eagle Wing Strategies exposes you to a wide variety of research tools that will help you find the information you need. We will teach you what to look for, how to find it, and what to do with it. A focused approach will lead you to identify what is challenging an organization and put your credentials or product against those challenges.
